Matt is an Associate Director within our Permanent Search business, and leads the businesses coverage across Private Equity in Europe. Prior to joining The Barton Partnership in 2015, Matt previously spent a number of years working in China, where he worked for a regional family office focused on the import and distribution of high-margin consumer goods to satisfy the growing demand of China’s burgeoning middle-class outside of the East Coast.
Whilst at The Barton Partnership, Matt conceived and embedded the Permanent Search footprint in Continental Europe as a seven-figure business unit, establishing our presence in the DACH, France and Benelux markets to mirror the leading brand the company has held in the UK for over a decade. His passion lies in Private Equity Value Creation and working with Operating Teams, Investment Professionals and Executives of portfolio companies across Europe to achieve the full potential of their portfolio companies through executing critical hiring requirements.
When not hiring executive (and n-1) talent into portfolio companies, Matt is often advising a range of Private Equity funds on how to build their Operating Teams. Or indeed, how to build and refine teams within fund’s that have always had a strong operational ethos and corresponding team.
Outside of work, Matt is scouring for opportunities in public equity (until private equity finally becomes accessible to the retail buyer), trying to convince people he can speak Mandarin beyond ordering a beer and gleefully witnessing the rebirth of Liverpool FC’s European hegemony.
