Our client is a European Special Situation Private Equity Fund that invests across the capital structure in a range of small to mid-sized businesses. The distressed and deep-value focus leads to investments in debt, primarily at the top end of the capital structure, and hard assets that are acquired at steep discounts to allow greater value.  The flexibility of capital allows it to pursue minority positions and control investments as the situation allows. For control investments the firm uses its team of in-house operating professionals, composed of former senior industry executives who have experience in the strategic repositioning and turnaround of companies, to assist or lead management teams in achieving operational targets.

ROLE: 

- Partnering with the investment team in analysing potential opportunities through the diligence process

- Working with the operating team leadership and deal team to define the value creation opportunities and the strategic plan for each portfolio acquisition

- Post-acquisition, working in accordance with the Board and management team, to ensure delivery of the investment plan, and on an ongoing basis, operational improvement, restructuring or re-engineering the business to maximise value 

- Supporting development of the best possible management and organisation/team for each investment

- Ensure a strong, on-going operational focus, regularly reviewing financial and operational performance of the portfolio companies he/she is involved with, championing the firm’s wishes and ensuring agreed goals are achieved

- In exceptional circumstance act as interim executive (e.g. VP of projects, strategy, finance, etc)

- Represent the firm in the business community, enhancing its positioning in the market

- Continued improvement of fund’s operational and value creation capability

- Participation in Investor Relations activities as required as a team member

REQUIREMENTS: 

- Blue chip training (with a preference for turnaround consulting backgrounds).

- Experience in either industry or Private Equity (again, with a strong preference for those with turnaround experience)

- Experience in heavy industries (Industrials/Manufacturing/Infrastructure/Energy)

- Tangible experience of operational responsibility

- Ability to work independently of the other Operators
