Group Strategy Manager - Leading Energy Firm

A leading FTSE 100 Energy business based in the London area are looking to add a ‘number two’ to their Group Strategy function, reporting to the Group Head of Strategy.


The successful candidate will be responsible for significant areas of the Group Strategy agenda including delivery of the Strategic Planning process and ad hoc strategic projects for the CEO, independently driving outputs themselves and as part of small ad hoc teams. The team is also responsible for communicating the strategy through the highest levels of the organisation, and ensuring its delivery through management of the Group Investment Framework.

- Manage Strategic Planning process - Deliver strategic planning process, including CEC strategy days, Annual BPC & other forums

- Monitor delivery of the strategy and report against strategic progress - Deliver projects to clarify / further the strategy and drive implementation

- Develop corporate Strategy - Conduct review every 3-5 years of medium / long term Group portfolio strategy; understand and assess overall Group portfolio position

- Deliver Special Projects - Deliver one-off and regular, highly varied, special projects for the CEO / CEC

- Support and oversee day to day activities of the Group Strategy Finance Associate, Group Strategy Associate and Group Strategy Analyst, particularly where working together on specific projects - For example in oversight of the Investment Committee process and the Strategic Shape production

- Support cross-cutting activities in the CEO’s Office


- Minimum of five years of experience in strategy development from e.g. commercial, planning or strategy roles analysing downstream energy & services retail markets and upstream markets such as E&P, power, LNG and trading

- Deep understanding of energy markets and the fundamental drivers that shape them

- Strategy consultancy experience highly desirable

- Financial literacy and experience of conducting financial analyses

- Proven track record of successfully managing high-performing teams and multiple senior stakeholders

- Proven ability in storyline development, business planning and financial modelling

- Track record of delivering projects, presentations, or reports for senior management

- Proven track record of working under pressure within a fast-paced environment

- Experience of interacting at high levels within an organisation
