About Us​

The Barton Partnership is a specialist provider of Strategic, Operational and M&A talent both on a permanent and independent consulting basis in London, Europe, New York and Asia.

Our clients include FTSE listed and Fortune 500 companies across all sectors/industries; SME’s, Strategic, Innovation & Management Consulting firms (large and boutique), Global Financial services, Private Equity and Venture Capital organisations. Our network represents talent from Analyst to Partner/MD level across all disciplines and sectors associated with StrategyTransformation and M&A.

Our Independent Consulting business offers rapid response and deployment of strategy professionals across all sectors with project duration ranging from one week to twelve months.

The Barton Partnership was founded in 2007 with the goal of being the best-in-class strategy recruitment business in the market. We value our relationships and have some exceptionally strong ones with candidates, clients and colleagues alike. We now want to become world-class in our field.

The passion and drive is reflected in all employees here at The Barton Partnership. We enjoy what we do and we push each other to be the best we can be. We work collaboratively and have a blend of experience from top graduates new to the market to experienced hires who have joined us from competitors because they share our values.

Our History

It's been quite a journey from 2007 to today, here is a snapshot of some of the highlights along the way! 

  • The launch of The Barton Partnership

    In 2007, following a successful £17.m MBO at his previous firm, Nicholas Barton launched The Barton Partnership with a focus on the strategy market. 

    He set up the first office at 14 Greville Street and made his first hire within 3 months and the business broke even in 6 months.  



  • 2008 - 2010


    The early years.. 
    In it's first year, The Barton Partnership successfully hired 3 people. 

    One of these hires was Mark Fagan who is now a Director in the business, working across Financial Services and Private Equity on the Independent Consulting team. 

    By 2010, the business had grown to 10 people and we appointed John Zafar as our first Non-Executive Director. 

    We also hired Thomas Rodwell as a Research Consultant. Thomas is now a Director and leads the Permanent Commerce & Industry team. 

  • Business expansion continues..

    Between 2011 and 2013, The Barton Partnership continued to grow exponentially. 

    We moved into larger offices in Greville Street, and continued to hire quality recruiters that would go on to lead our various business units in the coming years.

    With our headcount now at 15, we appointed Oliver Phoenix as the Director of our Permanent Division. 

    2014 also saw the launch of our Independent Consulting practice. Nick Adlam (former Bain & Company Manager and FTSE100 Head of Strategy) joined the business to help grow our Independent Consulting offering, utilising our extensive network to satisfy the growing appetite in the market.  

    As well as this, we also created a partnership with 325 Consulting in Australia. 


    2011 - 2013

  • 2014 - 2016


    New territories.. 

    With Oliver Phoenix and Nick Adlam running the Permanent and Independent Consulting practices, it was time to start looking at expansion into new geographies. 

    We appointed Paul Fodor, an ex BCG Project Leader, as Client Partner in Europe. Paul promotes The Barton Partnership proposition in Continental Europe, growing our network of clients and candidates and working with the London team to better service our clients needs. 

    We also created a partnership with Shackleton Group in Singapore. 

    With the London business booming, we quickly outgrew our offices and moved to Whitefriars Street - a much bigger office for 25 people - but it wouldn't be long until we had to move again! 

  • 10 years and counting.. 

    In our tenth year, the business saw some of the most exciting changes yet. 

    We launched our office in New York, led by Victoria Montagu. Victoria had built a successful career in executive recruitment and market research focused on Strategy and Transformation in the US and UK and since inception, the New York business has had a very impressive start. 

    We also created our Research Academy - a framework tailored to guide graduates through the first stage of their career here as a Research Consultant. 

    As well as this, we appointed Oliver Phoenix as Managing Director and hired yet more talented individuals to join the team, taking our headcount to 35 across 3 geographies.  We moved to our bigger and better office in 16 High Holborn as a result of this growth. 

    2017 also saw the launch of our new website! 

    We have big plans for the future, and can't wait to see what the next few years have to offer! 



  • 2018


    The year so far..

    This year we will be continuing to expand our business globally by increasing our headcount to over 50 and achieving a record turnover of over £12m.  

    We have just opened our Asia office covering Singapore and Hong Kong and we are excited to see the growth of this office along with our existing efforts across Europe and New York.
