US Head of Strategy / Director

Our client, a multinational, bulge bracket bank, is in search of a Director-level candidate to serve as US Head of Strategy, reporting to the Global Head of Strategy. The US Head of Strategy will lead a small team in the US to develop, present and publish industry thought leadership, as well as engage in bespoke strategic consulting projects with external clients. He/she will work stakeholders throughout the organization, including the origination team, in developing stronger connectivity with clients and prospects. The team also serves as a product competence center internally for the organization, and advises on its internal product offering business strategy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Develop, publish and present industry research to clients and investors; including a monthly report on key industry trends. The US Head of Strategy will be a player/coach, leading and managing the team in execution of the team’s mission, but also supporting development and use of analytical tools that contribute to the thought leadership and providing data-based insights and running deep dive analyses.

  • Where appropriate, participate in pitches for new business with the origination team and contribute to its business strategy.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master’s degree / PhD in business studies or other relevant disciplines.

  • 10-15 years of experience, across one or more of the following types of organizations:

    • Consulting firm / internal consulting group on sell side

    • Research organization

    • Hedge fund or other alternative asset manager in a business or investing role

  • Substantial experience managing teams and aiding in their professional development; culture carrier; ability to connect team members across geographies.

  • Gravitas, strong verbal communication skills; proven ability to speak confidently and effectively in front of very senior audiences, both in intimate as well as large audience settings.

  • Strong analytical and written communication skills; proficiency with research process and MS Office suite of programs.

  • Ability to take independent initiative and be creative; must be able to lead team with minimal day-to-day guidance/oversight, and drive team vision and strategy.
