A leading FTSE 100 Energy business based in the London area are looking to attract a senior level individual to lead their Market & Competitor Intelligence team, part of the Group function.

ROLE:

The team sits within the remit of the SVP – the Office of the CEO, who reports directly to the CEO, offering unrivalled exposure.

As the Head of Market & Competitor Intelligence, you will be responsible for leading the team as well as becoming a central point for intelligence across the ‘group’. Accountabilities will including;

Enhance understanding of markets and competitors

-   Develop market / environmental and competitor intelligence combining BU, external sources and primary data gathering / desktop research to produce a Group view of trends and identify strategic and growth opportunities / threats. Particularly in the non-traditional space

- Be the Group-level external ‘ear to the ground’ to pick up emerging information

Provide central focal point for BU intelligence

- Be the central ‘co-ordination’ / ‘go-to’ point for Group-level market and competitive intelligence information - learn from and share with the BUs and CC through e.g. monthly forums, briefings and research notes

- Build and manage a repository of Group-level knowledge as a single source of news and insight on key markets and competitors, including summaries. Maintain corporate view of key and emerging competitors and markets in each of our value chains

Deliver market and competitive insights and advice

- Provide analysis and advice - market scanning, competitive analysis and insight - to teams such as Group M&A and Technology

- Shape the broader strategy through activities such as providing a perspective into the strategic agenda and reviewing the strategy against the environment

- Brief the senior leadership team and other senior stakeholders – alongside others, develop perspectives and facilitate regular presentations and discussions with on key topics

Support the Director of Strategy

- Execute special projects and provide strategic support to the CEO

- Support delivery of the annual Strategic Planning process as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

- Advanced Market insight analysis and competitor intelligence techniques (including desk-based, primary intelligence gathering, networking and finding ways to source useful information globally)

- Data repository and intelligence portal development/management

- Ability to understand and distill issues, and skilled in constructing persuasive, clear, logical, evidence-based arguments and testing hypotheses

- Ability to think creatively and to adapt innovative solutions to challenges

- Commercial acumen and an understanding of business drivers

- Strong relationship building, communication and influencing skills

- Strong project management and time management skills

- Comfortable with ambiguity
