My client is Global Strategy Officer (ex Partner Tier 1 Consulting firm) of a Global Consumer Goods conglomerate, currently resourcing for a business critical Strategy Director.

The position has come available through progression as the incumbent moves into a new, accelerated role in the wider organisation. The role takes ownership of a team of c. 10 ex-strategy Consultants and interfaces with a combination of Executive Committee, Business Unit Managing Directors and regional Presidents.

Strategy is core to this organisation and is hugely respected by the wider business/leadership, not only because of the high impact output and benefit provided, but it has also been the starting place of numerous business leaders. 


The Strategy Director will be markets focussed and will be accountable for ensuring each one of the 21 market Managing Directors (MDs) has created, embedded and is executing a robust market strategy, which will collectively deliver the corporate strategy for the business

The Strategy Director leverages the strategy team of 10, all of whom come from a strategy consulting background.

Role is accountable for leading 21 market strategy development including resource allocation across all categories and countries.  It requires a macro view of where the market fits into the company’s strategy, as well into their competitor strategies. 

This is a very independent role which can interface directly across the 21 Market MDs and Presidents and with the senior leadership population to frame strategic question and drive aligned and rigorous answers.  It requires the confidence to bring constructive challenge to the MD and President and deliver outcomes whilst building alignment and understanding of the strategy across the senior leadership team.  It can confidently prepare the materials to lead effective debate at the in-market Strategy Reviews which result in value creating outcomes.
