The Role:

Reporting into the CEO of the North American business, the Head of Strategy leads the strategic planning process, mergers and acquisitions and strategic partnerships across the business unit and region to help drive profitable and sustainable growth.

  • Strategic Planning Process

    • Lead the strategic planning process, synthesizing input from customers/business lines, product leaders and industry experts to create the business unit strategy that aligns with the global strategy

    • Work with the business lines to align their strategies and plans with business unit and corporate strategy.   Working with business lines, help them to develop detailed go to market plans to maximize growth potential.

    • Help other business units with their strategic plans

    • Maintain and update the strategic plan on an ongoing basis to incorporate new market and organizational insights

    • Prepare updates and insights for the monthly meetings and reports, board meetings and any other internal communications required

  • Mergers and Acquisitions

    • Work with private equity ownership and internal corporate stakeholders to develop a list of attractive markets and/or targets to monitor

    • Help evaluate and complete any deals that make sense from a risk adjusted return basis

    • Prepare updates and insights for the monthly meetings and reports, board meetings and any other internal communications required

  • Strategic Partnerships

    • From the output of the strategic planning process, develop a list of markets and/or customers that are strategic and not currently be addressed

    • Solicit the appropriate support from within the business lines or other product experts to develop a marketing plan

    • Lead preliminary discussions with prospective new partners/customers to determine interest and further qualify any opportunities worth pursuing

    • Prepare updates and insights for the monthly meetings and reports, board meetings and any other internal communications required

  • Work Closely with Strategic Marketing and Product Management

    • Work with this group to develop product and market strategies that position the organization to achieve long-term growth, and meet annual revenue and profitability goals.

  • Work with group to continually identify and assess new markets, product and technology opportunities, and drive marketing strategy to capitalize on opportunities

    • Understand the voice of the customer

    • Develop product requirements

    • Provide insight on customer expectation and motivation

    • Drive buying terms and constraints

    • Work with group to execute marketing product plans/programs in collaboration with product management, sales, business development, program managers, technical support, and business leaders

    • Help influence direction of Digital Labs and R&D to focus on initiatives that will support technology and solutions roadmap consistent with achievement of strategic growth plan

  • Cross-Selling Opportunities

    • Lead and/or facilitate, as appropriate, special initiatives to foster cross BU offerings

  • Prepare updates and insights for the monthly meetings and reports, board meetings and any other internal communications required

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Management consulting experience required

  • Strategic planning process experience required

  • Merger and acquisition experience required.  Integration experience preferred

  • Experience cultivating and developing large strategic deals

  • Ability to sell and influence important internal and external constituents

  • Proven ability to work across a diverse and complex global company

  • Financial analysis and strong financial acumen preferred
