​The Opportunity:
A Global Large-Cap Private Equity fund have created an opportunity for an Interim Chief Data Officer from a Consulting/MBB background. You will be focused on developing an internal data team & improving the utilisation of data for operational purposes & value creation. You will be the first hire in this capacity & work with stakeholders internally to develop a roadmap leading to best-in-class analytics functionality competitive in the market.
Whilst this role will initially focus on the internal Fund data, overtime it could develop into portfolio support & advisory with repeated engagement. Moreover, there will be the opportunity for all expenses paid international travel when required.
Specialising across Technology/SaaS, Sports, Energy, E-commerce & logistics there is a wide range of data to work with.
Job Description:
Strategic Analysis & Leadership
  • Collaborate with Business Operations team leads to understand current processes, challenges, and needs.
  • Identify key areas of opportunity to standardise and industrialise business processes through data and technology solutions.
  • Prioritise opportunities based on potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with the Private Equity funds goals.
  • Help drive a strategic vision for leveraging data and technology to optimise business operations.
Project Management
  • Define the scope, goals, and deliverables for each identified project or initiative.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams, ensuring tasks are on track, risks are mitigated, and objectives are met on time.
  • Ensure communication of project status to all relevant stakeholders throughout.
Business Case Development
  • Develop robust business cases for each opportunity, highlighting ROI, benefits, and potential risks.
  • Prepare and present materials that effectively communicate the value proposition of the initiatives to key decision-makers.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
  • Develop strong relationships with Business Operations teams, ensuring alignment and smooth collaboration.
  • Engage Managing Partners and other stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support for projects.
  • Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Consultancy background such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, OC&C, Oliver Wyman or L.E.K
  • Proven project leadership or management experience preferably on data and technology projects.
  • Strong understanding of business process optimisation and technological solutions.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • A results-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering value and tangible outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Interim Project Lead / Chief Data Officer / Scoping Expert
  • Background in Management Consulting with a strategic mindset
  • Experience working within the private equity industry, understanding the unique challenges and dynamics of interim fund working as well as portfolio companies (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong leadership & communication capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data insights into strategic and commercial recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization.
  • Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel within Europe as required.
