Well capitalized Sovereign Wealth Fund with a growing NYC office
Our client is a large, well capitalized Sovereign Wealth Fund looking to grow their Portfolio operations team across a number of levels.
Mostly they are looking to hire generalist Portfolio Operations individuals, who would work with a variety of portfolio companies in a number of different value creation topics across functions. The one exception is the requirement for an individual to focus on Digital Transformation.
Work collaboratively to develop and/or support the implementation of the Portfolio Companies’ value creation plans:
  • Support project management and analytics to drive value creation plan, including managing any necessary outside resources;
  • Detailed customer/market/industry analysis to ensure a fact-based understanding of key opportunities & issues;
  • Strategic, operational, and management gap assessment, and identification of adjacent growth opportunities.
  • Create/administer detailed action plans / dashboards to support value creation plan in areas including:
  • Information Technology;
  • Process improvement / Six Sigma / lean manufacturing;
  • Procurement and strategic sourcing;
  • Pricing and salesforce effectiveness;
  • Strategy/market consulting;
  • Management assessments.
When called upon, diagnose key strategic business and operational processes issues for portfolio companies, and develop comprehensive strategies to prioritize and address those growth, cost-cutting, organizational and/or operational opportunities/issues;
The ideal candidate is a strategic and tactical problem solver with a “hands-on” orientation, who can create a sense of urgency, make decisions quickly, and effectively influence others.
The candidate must have the drive and ability to help develop strategic, analytical and financial frameworks, to identify practical and meaningful business improvement opportunities, and to define and implement solutions.
The successful candidate should have substantial consulting experience with a leading strategy or operations consulting firm, with strong demonstrated analytic and project management capabilities.
Candidates will have at least 3-4 years of Full-Time professional experience in a Tier 1 Consulting firm. There are needs throughout the team up to those at a recently promoted Partner level.
Analytical Skills − The candidate should possess the ability to identify and define business questions and issues, and develop strategic, analytical and financial frameworks to conduct analysis. He/she will have experience developing, designing and leading the execution of implementation plans to improve profitability and operational efficiencies. This analytical skill must be married with highly developed project management skills. Successful candidates will have enjoyed the analytical nature of consulting work and will have gained satisfaction from seeing such work through to execution within a corporate.
Problem Solver − An ideal candidate will be a problem solver who can create a sense of urgency on key issues. They will thrive on helping management teams achieve more than they thought they could ever achieve. He/she also needs to be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker, confident and highly motivated as well as possessing exceptional ability and enthusiasm. This individual will have excellent communication and presentation skills, the ability to make decisions quickly, and a very high level of maturity.
Influencing and Partnering Skills − Strong communication and presentation skills will be essential to gain acceptance both within the fund and externally. The candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to gain the trust and respect of CEOs, other senior executives, the deal team, and the portfolio companies’ Boards. Being able to handle potential challenge or conflict in a positive and proactive way will be part of the job. Candidates should be able to push back appropriately and constructively when there is disagreement with management CEOs or deal partners. Candidates need to be capable of understanding the subtleties and complexities of working with a range of size and stage of companies, some of which may not have had institutional backing before.
Results Focus − A self-starter who makes things happen. Able to develop clear goals and plans and deliver against them. Well organized with a completer/finisher mentality, able to juggle multiple tasks and still make sure that no ‘balls are dropped’. Candidates need to be able to think on their feet and stay calm and unflappable under pressure, whilst being responsive and action oriented, too. Goes beyond expectations by thinking proactively and delivering more than has been agreed to.
Strategic Acumen − Able to stand back and see the bigger picture, identifying opportunities to add value for investors beyond immediate requirements. Handling complexity and ambiguity will be important, an agile thinker. Able to get to grips quickly with a wide range of different business situations and add value credibly based at times on very limited knowledge of and exposure to a business situation.
